Additional 2.2 million new savings account holders in 10 months' period

Kathmandu, July 11: With the government's 'one person one account policy' coming into play, additional 2.2 million new savings accounts have been added within a period of 10 months, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The number of the account holders has reached 18.8 million until mid-April this year from 16.6 million in mid-June last year, the NRB said.
The monetary policy made public by the NRB on Sunday for the fiscal year 201718 also stated an increasing number of savings account holders every year.
Likewise, the loan numbers has increased to 1,183,000 from 1,095,000 between the same periods of time while the number of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has also added to 2,047 from 1,859 in one year's time.
Similarly, the number of mobile banking service users is put at 2,427,000 within the period of 10 months while the number of internet banking users has reached 735,000. RSS
